A personal meditation on music, history, and tradition, A Door to God, depicts the unique culture of Southeastern Tajikistan, focusing on the relationship between the Pamiri rabob, a lute-like string instrument native to the region, and the people who have been playing it for centuries. The film aims to preserve Noyoft's connection to his own culture, exploring the ways in which this ancient string instrument embodies the values and ethics of the Ismaili faith and how its music is a language unto itself that has taught generations of Tajiks about their own rich spiritual history.
