Children of Another Sun is a scream in the language of poetry. The short film visualizes a poem about a young African American woman’s confusion of self-identity, her pain and hope. It explores a topic that is yet to be sufficiently acknowledged: how slavery still exerts everlasting impacts on our society and how it still affects the self-perception of African Americans today. It is intimate and raw. We see the poet/actress goes through a wide range of emotions anger, fear, sadness, pain, peace, frustration, and hope. It uses a lot symbolism and visual language to tell a personal yet political story.
